Vision

At E9, we are building search for biology. Biological R&D has no equivalent of Google search: scientists still spend months manually finding, collecting, cleaning, and interpreting evidence in order to develop novel testable hypotheses.

We break this bottleneck by building biology-specific search software that gets researchers from question to novel testable hypotheses in hours, not months. E9 transforms hypothesis generation from a slow, linear process into a rapid, iterative, multi-threaded reasoning loop. We believe this is the missing layer between today’s static, scattered data repositories and the automated, data-driven discovery platforms of tomorrow.

How The System Works

  1. Our search system designs query-specific agentic research pipelines that autonomously search, integrate, and reason over the world’s diverse and fragmented biological data — from public literature to private, quantitative experimental results. It can aggregate even weak signals across a vast, multi-modal array of biological knowledge bases to learn from existing evidence.
  2. Our system provides suggested prioritizations of search results so that scientists know when they're reaching diminishing returns, along with clear citations and reasoning for every claim so that researchers can evaluate the strength of hypotheses before testing them in the lab.
  3. Our customers run experiments, and we feed those results back into the system context to determine the next best action, whether that is a new experiment, a refined query, or another analysis.

Our Approach

Customized collaboration

Currently, we collaborate closely with customers as a service, on a project basis, to help them answer high-value scientific questions. We’ve worked with scientists to identify novel therapeutic hypotheses, high-value indications for new programs, and repurposing opportunities that human experts missed.

Finding alpha

Our ethos is to help scientists play to win, focusing on strategies to differentiate and take on novel challenges that others shy away from. It’s not only scientifically rewarding, it also makes good business sense.

Eliminating operational tradeoffs

Our search system enables scientists to run complex, meaningful queries at a scale that would otherwise be impossible given constraints on traditional human analytic capabilities. We don’t think scientists should have to choose between going deep, exploring broadly, or moving fast.

Building conviction

We recognize information is not the same thing as insight, and having an insight is not the same as getting to conviction. What matters isn’t the data per se, but making the best decision with that data, and we help customers build conviction with interactive strategy sprints, supported by our technology.
